Antarctic ANIMALS
On the home page, I wrote that Polar Bears aren't in Antarctica and I also wrote that I would tell you why on this page, and I wasn't lying. The reason is that polar bears evolved (or "came to be", if you don't believe in that kind of stuff) 4 million years ago and Antarctica separated from America long before that, meaning that Polar bears would have to travel to Antarctica in order to live there. Although Polar bears are adapted to the cold, if they travelled to Antarctica, they would have to walk through tropical and warm places, which they are not used to. |
dolphinsThis is a hourglass dolphin. It's the only dolphin in Antarctica ever found. Hourglass dolphins or “Lagenorhynchus cruciger” are the only dolphins in Antarctica because they prefer colder waters whereas other dolphins like warm waters.

sealsThis is a leopard seal (the one with the huge jaw). They are the second largest of the seals in Antarctica. They feed on smaller seals, penguins, birds, fish, squid and krill. The males are unusually smaller than the females who are about 3m in length and weigh around 370kg.

AlbatrossAlbatross birds have incredibly huge wings, enabling them to fly amazingly fast. Others assume that this bird can fly around the world in a month! Some say that these birds embodied the souls of sailors who were drowned below the sea.
